DIARY - Friday 4th January 2008

Email facilities in Siem Reap are plentiful but hardly constant. I tried three times to do an update and the computer crashed half way through, so it can be a bit frustrating when the beer is calling!

3 days in Ho Chi Minh City, amazing, mind boggling, unreal, like nothing I have ever seen, but today, taking the plunge riding on the roads of Cambodia - not by motorcycle yet, but by pushbike easing my way in so to speak! It is a doddle if you don’t lose your nerve, filtering through the streets of Sheffield was nothing like this that I can say.

Tourists are not allowed to hire motorcycles in Siem Reap, to ride a bike I would have had to have ridden one up from Phnom Penh and then taken it back, so hiring a pushbike was the obvious way to have a look at the temples. So many temples, they grow out of the wood here!

I couldn’t begin to describe the sight, the atmosphere, the fun. To see the logo of Freebird Motorcycles flying over Ankhor Wat was surreal - I have begun to fly again, in spirit at least.

The backpackers hostel is basic but clean, resembling a building site with all the work going on. The food in the town is excellent, Khymer curry last night, don’t know what to try tonight - to live like a king for a few dollars a day is fun.

More temples tomorrow, no more update now, just in case it crashes. Thanks for the many emails, it is nice to know that people are wishing they were here too!!!!
