COMPANY PROFILE
- Freebird Motorcycle Tours
Sue Wilson, the leader of Freebird
Motorcycle Tours, gave up
her secure career in industry to enjoy
more the hobby, sport and pastime that
she found late in life... motorcycling.
Having taken up motorcycling, Sue was
so bitten by the bug that merely passing
her test and riding her motorcycle wasn't
enough! Her professional attitude in all
that she does spurred her on. She went on
to pass the Institute of Advanced
Motorcycle Tests, and later became an
observer with the local group, teaching
the skills she had learnt, encouraging
and aiding others to pass the test also.
Still yearning to better her skills Sue
went on to take and pass an Advanced
Motorcycle Instructors Course. She now
works as a Driving Standards (DSA)
registered Instructor when not leading
tours. |

Realising there were other
people who could benefit from the skills
that she herself initially lacked, Sue
decided to set up a Training Programme to
pass on to new riders and born
again bikers these skills and try
to share some of her experiences. The
emphasis is on safety and self
preservation but without losing the
exhilaration and pleasure of
motorcycling. This is done using a tried
and tested method of personal instruction
designed to leave the student with a
feeling of self confidence and having a
greater awareness of the hazards which
could face them. |

Passionate about
motorcycling and travel Sue took a 6
month break in 2005 and with fellow
motorcyclist Mick Wheeler from www.adventure.gs the pair completed
a marathon trip across Asia to China
returning The Long Way Home. 23
countries, 19,000 miles unsupported and
full of adventure, the story can be read
in diary form on this site. |

Closer to home the short
breaks and tours that Sue organises are
for small groups only - solo or two up.
All your fears and worries about planning
can be put to rest. You will be taken
along roads and to places that it would
perhaps take you a lifetime to discover.
The people that make up most of Sue's
tours are generally the more mature
professional business men and women who
enjoy riding their motorcycles, seek
convivial company, but just simply don't
have the time or the circle of friends to
do so. |

Sue heads off again this
December for warmer climes, Vietnam and
Cambodia, where she intends to buy one of
the famous 125cc 2 stroke Minsk
motorcycles and journey the length of
Vietnam. Travelling on her own this time,
she will be updating the site with her
adventures before returning in March 2008
for another season of motorcycle training
and touring in the UK. |
